Windows 7

I cannot believe we are already trashing Vista, just when I got used to it. Here's the thing I didn't know until I read last week's WSJ. My Windows Photo Gallery and Movie Maker are not Windows 7 programs. I will need to re-import them through something called Windows Live Essentials.Life is hard, guys! Imagine how I would feel if I hadn't read up on this before the changeover.

  1. I havent even heard about Windows 7. When do we have to convert to it? What is the differnce between it and Vista?

  2. I've really been waiting for Windows 7 for a while now. They rushed getting Vista out and there are too many little problems with it. Not to mention the incredibly large amount of space it takes up on your computer just to run Vista. I was actually about to convert my computer back to XP but I figured I would wait until Windows 7 came out and just do an upgrade.

  3. Honestly Vista was a horrible program made from Windows and I am happy they created a new operating system because vista had so many problems. I wouldn't buy a new computer because I didn't want to have vista. The new Windows 7 is suppose to have fixed all the problems vista had and upgrade the operating system.

  4. I have had alot of problems with vista and have considered switching to a mac. Is windows 7 going to be worth the wait?

  5. I've never used Vista... I Stuck with XP but i primarily use a Mac OS.
Windows always has some error message or something... Takes too long to boot up, and has 8737398.7378 updates like EVERYDAY because there is always some bug or some issue that needs resolving...
BUT I do hear Windows 7 is worth the wait... supposedly it's supposed to has the aesthetic and ease of use appeal the Mac OS's have... I guess we shall have to wait and see!

  6. I'm so excited about Windows 7. I fed up with Vista and all of it's problems. It always seems like my computer doesn't want to work when I need it the most.

  7. Windows vista has been a let down from the start. Often computers crash and are buggled down with questions regarding permission to execute any updates and its quite annoying.

  8. Everytime a new software program or technology object such as cell phones are invented and out on the market, it does not take long for the next new item to arrive. In fact, companies come out with new products every three months or so. It is similar to life science textbooks. When they are written, reviewed, published, and sold to students, they are already over one to three years old and labeled "outdated" due to new information being discovered.

As far as Windows Vista goes, I think they did a horrible job developing the software program. Sometimes I think developers forget that we do have not gained the knowledge that they have for their related field and/or loves the computer world rather some of us are technology challenged and find Vista quite confusing. Thank goodness, a lot of the computer friends I have believe Vista was poorly developed. Hopefully, they have come out with something better to make up for Vista's lost cause.

  9. Windows Vista needs to go in the trash! Since I have used it on my mother's computer it never worked the way it should. Too many people have complained about the system and this is why it must be canned.

  10. I am really excited about windows seven, but vista has been mostly good to me since it came out, and thats how technology works, keeps giving you more so you will buy more and they can keep making money

  11. What I have seen from Windows 7 I love, and that means something because I prefer Macs to PCs. Although I don't subscribe to most of nonsense of the "Computer wars" I can say that there are things that I like much better about one than the other. However, as it pertains to Windows operating systems 7 is in my opinion far superior to Windows Vista. The processing time, the variety, the customability , almost everything is better in Windows 7. The few times I had experiences with Vista were not good. The background programs running at all time slowed down the things that I was actually trying to do. My more tech savvy friends have been anticipating 7's release for months and I trust their opinion.

  12. Okay so i feel mad at everyone trashing Vista. For a company to just give up and tell there costomers "Just wait for Windows 7". How dare them. It isn't like it is a cheap change over. Plus with all the compatability errors with Vista, what makes people think that everything will move so easally. I agree with the top guy (original post), but ithink vista should have been fixed to perfection. It is good, it just needs to be fixed. I see how new people should go modern, that is okay, but for me, i think me getting the new Vista is the same move. Microsoft needs to go back and fix Vista, if Windows Seven is really that great.

  13. I personally have not experienced any of the problems people claim to have with Vista. It would appear that Microsoft is trying to fix the problems it faced with Vista users and in doing so has created more problems. I will continue to use Vista until the programs are no longer compatable. I know lots of people upgraded their XP computers to a Vista and had issues, however the computer I use came new with Vista and has worked fine. I'm not trying to put down Windows 7 but I don't see the need to upgrade my Vista for a while.

  14. I think these software companies are getting a little bit ridiculous. They have something new for us to buy once we finally start to like the old software. I sometimes think that they have come up with all the new software and space it out to sell so they will make more money. I guess we just have to try and keep up with them :(

  15. I actually get my free copy of windows 7 in November... I'll be sure to let you know what I think about it!

  16. Vista's biggest flaw is public relations. The problem that most people had with Vista at release was its lack of compatibility with different devices (drivers), but that was fixed by Service Pack 1. As far as its release, it isn't really that soon if one considers the releases of 95, 98, 2000, Me, and XP, each of which were only one to three years after its predecessor.

For any Baylor student that is even considering getting Win7, check out www.win741.com, which has it for 29.99 until the new year (I believe).

  17. Well if there's a problem, then don't switch. On the flip side, if all these things need to be done in order to use certain programs on Windows 7, then it must be pretty cool. There are probably some capabilities that can't be used to the max with vista programming.

  18. I'm glad I read this, because I have been contemplating on whether or not I should switch to a Mac. I have Vista, and lately my computer just has not been running the way it used to. I had it in the shop for TWO WEEKS, which was a nightmare! I hate to give up on my Windows, but I think I might just have to join the bandwagon and make the switch anyways. I can't have an unrealiable comptuer while in college!

  19. My father works for IBM so I have been using Windows for the longest time but even he has a Mac laptop at home which somewhat says something. As far as windows is concerned, Vista was probably the second worst program next to Millenium and ran with updates and pop ups like you wouldnt believe and always asked for approval for anything. XP was much superior with the same level of security. I have not used Windows 7 but I've already heard that it is much better than Vista but again that it isn't saying much.

  20. I have been using Windows Vista and I haven't had too many problems with it. Hopefully Windows 7 will be better though!

  21. My dad already uses windows 7 and he loves it.. I will be getting a new computer for christmas and it will have 7 on it I will also have to learn how to operate the office 2007 becuase I dont not understand it well at all. however I am excited for the change and love that My whole computer is backed up on and external hard drive!

  22. I am glad my dad convinced me to switch to MAC. Since I have switched, I have not experienced any of the problems I had before on my PC.

  23. I would honestly rather just switch to mac from my Windows vista. Windows is always changing, but with every change comes more viruses and problems. My roomates all have mac's and i use them whenever I can. Lately i have also been going to the library and using the macs there to study and write my research paper. The are so much simpler to use.

  24. I agree with Taylor I have a Mac and I love it, I do not have to deal with any viruses or any othe glitches that all Windows have. I personally have not used Windows 7, but I hear it is not that bad and it has numerous amonts of cool features.
