I agree with Dr. Burleson in that getting a goodnights rest, eating well, and exercising help keep our minds and bodies in excellent health. It is difficult when juggling academics, multiple organizations, and work. Sometimes, you need to let go of work or an organization to keep staying strong for your health and academic ethic. Sometimes, personal things going on at home hurt us and affect our health and school work. One thing I have found personally helpful is to talk to my loved ones back home and to pray.
It's comforting to know that someone who has came so far in his career didn't start out as a straight A student, and had to work to become better at schooling. I agree that staying healthy is a key to become academically successful in that being healthy makes you stay focused better and attend classes without falling behind.
I agree with Dr. Burleson 100% I have been battling an illness most of the semester. I have learned that if im haveing a good day to take full advantage of it and get as much done as I can becuase I never know what tomorrow has in store for me. I could feel 100% better or it could be a day where I cant get out of my bed.
I agree with this, especially the sleep aspect he mentioned. I was struggling with sleep problems for a while and it really effected my work at school. It was difficult for me to to concentrate at school the next day after only having a couple hours of sleep. I am getting more sleep this semster and it has made a world of difference.
I totally agree with Dr. Burleson. As living proof of this, I had a cold and allergies at the same time and missed a lot of my biology classes at 8 a.m. I also did not attend the SI sessions in the duration that I was sick. Therefore, on the current test, I did not do as well as I had done on the first test. Therefore, moral of the story is to eat well and get PLENTY of rest! Otherewise, there could be some consequences.
I agree with Dr. Burleson. I have been very lucky during my time at Baylor and have never been sick (hopefully karma doesn't catch up with me) but I have seen many of my peers get sick and they always have a hard time recovering their grades after.
Yep, getting sleep and eating right is a good thing. Lets not for get to eat right and it is good to look into vitamins and stuff to help boost memory and emmunity. Plus get all the good stuff we don't get for cramming for exams. Very good Comment Dr. Burleson.
